Carolmae has tried to be very intentional with the way she approaches delegation with her team. To do this, she ensures the person she delegates to is someone that needs, or has shown interest, in developing the relevant skills. She ensures too that they always have what they need to successfully complete the asks she makes including the time, information, and any relevant training they made need. She ensures that they have scheduled times when they will come together to see how things are progressing and answer any questions her team has about the task she has delegated to them. Overall, these strategies have enabled a really effective delegation process for her and her team.

Based on the eight best practices for an effective delegation process, which best practices is the manager using in the scenario noted above.

A good employee on your team, Hilary

, has recently seemed less motivated at work. She was

recently tasked with a project summarizing information on all the financial

service offerings in the region. You know that it is very similar to one she tackled

before that summarized information on all the dog friendly places in the

region. Despite some initial confusion during the first project, she figured

out exactly what was holding her back and ended up executing the project

flawlessly. You know it really increased her confidence in successfully

executing tasks like this. Also, she still has her positive attitude and seems

happy and cheery at work constantly talking about her dog,

Purdy

, and showing pictures of her to everyone at work. Reflecting

on this information, why do you think

Hilary

might have less motivation on this present project?

A fellow manager at your company, Ron

, approached you in the break room complaining about how

unmotivated his team has been in the past few months. He tells you that

despite him constantly telling his team how important their work is for the

success of the company that they still don’t put forth the effort. He has tried

to make competitions where the winner receives a $100 bonus at the end of the

week, but that hasn’t seemed to spark any motivation either. He shares that he

keeps telling them what they need to be doing to ensure that they clearly

understand what is being asked of them, but they are still not improving. He

told them that if they don’t start improving that the are going to be facing

some big problems in their unit. What motivational mistake(s) do you think Ron

is making? (Select all that apply)
